Every year, around 250 players get drafted into the NFL. Likewise, the Football Hall of Fame inducts between four to eight players annually. With such limited Hall of Fame spots, we look at five of the biggest NFL stars who, surprisingly, haven’t made it.

Steve Smith Sr’s 15-year career in the NFL is nothing short of impressive, especially in the 2005 season. That year, he returned from an injury and led the league in receiving yards, winning Comeback Player of the Year. He currently ranks eighth all-time with 14,731 receiving yards.

Sterling Sharpe’s career lasted only seven years due to injury, but he left his mark on the NFL. He led the league in receptions for three seasons and received touchdowns for two seasons. His younger brother Shannon was inducted in 2011 and called himself the second-best player in his family.

Roger Craig was drafted into the NFL in 1983 and won the Super Bowl the following year. He was also an integral part of the San Francisco team that won the Super Bowl in 1984, 1988, and 1989. Craig is among the few backs to reach over 10,000 yards from scrimmage.

Reggie Wayne

Reggie Wayne won the Super Bowl in 2006 with the Indianapolis Colts. The next season, he led the league in receiving yards and made the Pro Bowl for six seasons. Interestingly, he’s been a five-time finalist for the Hall of Fame but has yet to make the final list.

Torry Holt

Torry Holt won the Super Bowl in 2000 with the St. Louis Rams and led the league in receiving yards that year. Making the Pro Bowl on seven occasions speaks to Holt’s pedigree. While he has yet to get Hall of Fame status, he has been a finalist five times.
